Liam Ronan
I have supported Sheffield Wednesday since birth. My first game was over sixteen years ago against Liverpool in 1989. I also write articles for www.swinemagazine.co.uk and www.gigwise.com. I'm from Sheffield but currently live and work in Manchester. I'll always miss home and Hillsborough though.

Summertime thoughts Part 1
By Liam Ronan | Published  06/21/2006
I agreed with BBC presenter and mad Baggies fan Adrian Chiles, when he said that summertime is his favourite time as a football fan. This is simply because it is a holiday from the week-to-week stress of being a Wednesdayite.

I can't complain too much though really (which is a suprise for an Owl); we stayed up; we've signed Kenny Lunt (how many kids are going to be using that name in the playgrounds? And not just because he's a decent footballer) who i rate as a solid and consistent, team-playing midfielder; and we're not getting carried away with ourselves for next season. I'm glad mid-table obscurity is our aim. It's not very optimistic I know, but I've found Sturrock's sensible and so far successful approach at the club much better than the over-passionate and blindly optimistic attitude of recent managers. It might take a while, but i'd rather get to the Premiership in a dignified manner, than a quick rush for success, followed by another sharp decline.

It'd be great if we get Scott Carson as 'keeper as well. But i'm not too confident in that happening. Knowing our luck he'll end up winning England the World Cup in a dramatic penalty shoot-out against Germany, pulling off the save of the tournament.

Up the Owls,

Liam
